The East Midlands Ring journeys 154 miles through the Leicestershire countryside
Also known as the Leicester Ring, this circuit travels through 100 locks, and takes around 84 hours. It takes boaters along a mixture of canals and rivers, including the Rivers Trent and Soar, the Leicester Line of the Grand Union Canal, and along sections of the Coventry, Birmingham & Fazeley and Trent & Mersey canals.
Best done on a two week holiday, destinations to visit along the way include: Coventry Cathedral; Foxton Locks; Foxton Inclined Plane Museum; and the pretty canalside village of Shardlow.
The best Drifters bases for this Ring are Braunston and Gayton.
