Boating Holidays on UK canals and waterways
Come along to Drifters' National Open Day 15 April 2018
Find the perfect Holiday
Welcome to Drifters
If you've never thought of a canal boat holiday (or even if you have, but never got round to taking one), there couldn't be a better time to try it. Now managed by a charity, The Canal & River Trust, the inland waterways are in the best shape they've been for many years.
With over two thousand miles of fabulous navigable waterways to choose from (and each one different), there will be a holiday to suit you.
The canals and rivers run through many miles of beautiful unspoilt countryside, as well as passing pretty villages and finding their way into the regenerated heart of many cities. The fact that you take your holiday home with you as you travel, and that you can stop more or less where you wish, means you can tailor your holiday adventure to suit your tastes. The countryside looks so different from the wonderful viewpoint of the water that there is a potential adventure round each bend - you will discover so much more about our wildlife and countryside as you drift along, leaving everyday cares behind.
The world of the waterways is a place of its own, in some ways it is a way to slip back in time, but with a modern boat. The waterways may seem strange if you're thinking of trying them for the first time, but you've come to the right place to have the mystery removed.
With over 500 boats to choose from, sailing from nearly 40 boatyards spread round the countryside of England, Wales and Scotland, we can offer you a one stop shop from just finding out about canal holidays to on-line booking.
With decades of experience, Drifters is the name to go with on the waterways. We aim to specifically assist those new to canal holidays, and we will delight you with the best quality holiday experience.
New to the Canals?
If you've been boating in the past, and aren't sure whether it would be fun to try again, then it is time to look at the boats we offer - they're right up to date and very easy to use. The waterways too have changed for the better - the towpaths are easier to walk, the channel is in better condition and new canals have opened up. There are also lots of exciting new developments and attractions accessible from the waterways.
We've got a great range of modern boats that we're very proud of. Drifters members are the biggest investors in new boats on the inland waterways. And there is an ever-increasing range of places you can cruise on our boats as we open up new bases.
