Drifters runs canal boat holiday press trips for journalists with national newspaper or magazine commissions. These are usually short breaks (three night weekends or four night mid week breaks) on a narrowboat for up to four people. Journalists are usually asked for pay for their fuel, circa £10-15 per day.
Drifters also runs day boat press trips for a wider cross-section of the media.
There are over 35,000 canal boats on our inland waterways, more than at the time of the Industrial Revolution, and each year the canal boat hire industry is worth over £33million to the national economy.
Around 352,000 people go canal boating each year in the UK and around 100,000 holiday boat trips are taken each year.
There are around 1,000 holiday hire boats in the UK and Drifters canal boat hire operators run 550 of those boats.
