Grading Scheme ...

Choosing Your Boat
The Visit Britain (National Tourist Board) ratings are a clear guide of what to expect in an easily recognised form. Craft are assessed annually by a trained, impartial assessor, so you can be confident that your accommodation has been thoroughly checked and rated before you make your booking, or we use the Drifters self assessed quality scheme to the same criteria.
Classifications
Both schemes have five grades of award reflecting the range of quality standards and facilities provided by a boat, indicated by a simple One to Five Stars system. The final rating awarded is a mixture of progressively increasing facility requirements and the overall quality of the accommodation provided, with the emphasis placed heavily on quality standards. You can be sure therefore that the more Stars awarded, the higher overall level of quality and comfort you can expect to find.
Drifters member companies can submit their boats each year to a thorough inspection by a senior Tourist Board inspector, who then grades every boat. These boats are independently approved, with ratings that reflect the facilities and quality of the boats, and of the service we offer. Or they can undertake the Drifters self assessed scheme using the same criteria. The details on each boat show which scheme has been used so you can be assured the highest industry standards are maintained.
Can you afford to take a holiday on a boat which has not been inspected?
